hidden by the grapes ist ein trio aus graz, das ihren stil selbst gerne als post-everything beschreibt. passend, wird doch vielerorts ihre musik ebenso gerne als indie oder alternative bezeichnet. zuweilen hört man auch die schlagworte post-punk oder post-rock. schwer in ein genre zu pressen sind sie auf jeden fall. mit drei stimmen, einem synthesizer und einem keyboard für kleinkinder bricht die band sicherlich mit dem klischee des klassischen rock-trios. ihr debut album „noise-operated jazz“ wurde von den kritikern als höchst erfrischend gelobt. nach ihrem auf dem eigenen label „sooder records“ veröffentlichten zweiten release, einer split 7’’ mit der grazer post-rock formation lambda, steht für 2011 ihr zweites full-lenght album an.

hidden by the grapes is a trio hailing from graz, austria. the band is known to describe their style as post-everything while others would say they play indie or alternative. their music draws influence from post-punk or post-rock but generally speaking it is very hard to include hidden by the grapes in a specific subgenre. using three voices, a synthesizer and a keyboard originally intended to be played by little children the band definitely does not fit into the typical rock-trio cliché. the debut album “noise-operated jazz” received early praise from critics who found the record “really refreshing”. a 7’’ vinyl disc was later released on their own label “sooder records” as split with the post-rockers lambda. a second full-length release is due for 2011 release.
